I created this piece after hiking Iron Mountain. I photograph cairns while hiking and then use these photos as inspiration in my studio. "Iron Mountain Afternoon" is part of my "On The Trail" Series, where I have re-created watercolors of actual cairns found in the White Mountains. I find myself drawn to painting cairns - to me they represent that we are all on a journey. And that we all hope to eventually find our way back home.
