O Happy Day

"O Happy Day" is a whimsical & colorful look at my beloved cairns. Although you would never find a balancing act quite like this on a trail, my many hikes in the Whites serve as my inspiration for creating pieces like this. Each rock is is layered with Daniel Smith Watercolor PrimaTek watercolors to create a granulating stone. Final touches include a hint of shimmer replicating mica and then white gouache is added for cracks and bobbles. Shadows complete the piece.
