This was a true experiment in mixing media and composition. Working from multiple photos of just two hens, I created a dynamic grouping of the birds on a panel with a vibrant pink ground. I wanted this color to be very present in the final painting to convey the silly joy that chickens have. Their movements and personalities are dramatic and bring most people a smile, and these are qualities I wanted my piece to communicate.
